Charlotte Capogna-Amias (She/Her)
Bereaved Parent / Miscarriage & Early Pregnancy Loss Support Group Facilitator
1) Describe briefly how you got involved with Empty Arms.
I attended an Empty Arms support group after my first pregnancy loss at around twelve weeks. The organization and the staff ended up becoming critical to my healing after two pregnancy losses and years of infertility. I will forever be grateful to them.
2) What makes you most proud of the work we do/What do you like most about Empty Arms?
I am SO PROUD of the work of Empty Arms (what I often think of as our "little engine that could" organization)! Empty Arms is such a loving, thoughtful group of people who handle what can be a devastating experience with such care and integrity. They understand the deep complexities of bereavement. The EA staff and volunteers hold both grief and hope for people, and that is truly a gift. I am honored to be a small part of this organization.
3) Share a passion in your life and/or work outside of EABS.
There are a lot of things I'm passionate about, but what makes the top of my list is trying my best to be a committed anti-racist activist as a white, cisgender woman. I find nature deeply healing and enjoying gardening and getting my hands dirty. I consume podcasts like they are my J-O-B (so much learning to be had!) and always am reading something. My friends and family make my life meaningful and whole.
