Kirsten (She/Her)

Bereaved Parent / TFMR Support Group Facilitator

1) Describe briefly how you got involved with Empty Arms.

I got connected with Empty Arms after my TFMR in 2021. My partner and I were looking for support resources since we didn't know anyone who had been through something like this and found that Empty Arms had many different support groups that applied to our loss situation. We attended multiple groups to process our loss and manage our way through a subsequent pregnancy, and now I co-facilitate one of the TFMR groups. It's been such a lifeline to connect with others who share our experiences and to continue to create space for other TFMR families.

2) What makes you most proud of the work we do/What do you like most about Empty Arms?

I'm grateful that EABS is such a strong TFMR support network. There are so few resources for TFMR and it can be so stigmatized and misunderstood by people who haven't experienced it. EABS deeply understands the need to create space for this type of loss.

3) Share a passion in your life and/or work outside of EABS.

I'm a musician, educator, and always learning.

Kirsten is located in Massachusetts. This is a photo of the top of Kirsten’s son Elijah's urn (which she and her partner made themselves). The trees represent Kirsten and her partner, and the star is for Elijah.
