Marisa Pizii
Bereaved Parent / BIPOC Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Group Facilitator
1) Describe briefly how you got involved with Empty Arms.
I first met Carol in a MotherWomen training in 2009. In 2010, I ended my pregnancy with my son, Josiah, due to a difficult prenatal diagnosis, and joined the Empty Arms community.
2) What makes you most proud of the work we do/What do you like most about Empty Arms?
I'm thrilled to join the Empty Arms facilitator team and support families, especially those who have Terminated for Medical Reasons. I believe strongly in the supportive nature of community, and the power of this work in building support and healing. Community is at the heart of healing, and it was at the heart of my own healing journey.
3) Share a passion in your life and/or work outside of EABS.
I previously served as the Program Director for the Prison Birth Project, and I am currently the Deputy Director of Programs for Civil Liberties and Public Policy (CLPP).
